Improving health and confidence one smile at a time.

Take a look at Dr. Katherine Bell’s most recent smile makeovers.

Teenage female patient presented with her right lateral missing and a left “peg” lateral incisor. Patient underwent orthodontics to provide space for restorations. A Maryland bridge was fabricated to replace her right lateral and a composite veneer was fabricated to improve the esthetics of her left “peg” lateral incisor. Both are temporary solutions fabricated to improve esthetics and confidence for this beautiful young lady. As she exits her teenage years these restorations will be replaced with more definitive restorations.

This male patient presented with two failed restorations on his front teeth, plus fractured edges on his two adjacent laterals. Patient also had uneven gingival heights across his front teeth. Four crowns were fabricated by our Master ceramist, and Dr. Bell scalloped and raised his gingiva with our CO2 laser for a better esthetic outcome.

This patient presented with fractures and wear on her two front teeth that caused a reverse smile line and irregular alignment. Patient has exciting family events scheduled this summer and wanted an improvement in esthetics. In addition to an improvement in her smile, Dr. Bell wanted to restore her smile line while protecting these teeth from further wear and tear. Patient had her two front teeth restored with our Master ceramist and a custom shade. Her smile line has been corrected and returned to a more youthful appearance. Most importantly, these teeth are now protected from further wear.

This is a Full Mouth Reconstruction case in progress:

This patient presented with several fractured, crowded and decayed teeth and was hoping for an improvement in esthetics and function. Patient has completed extractions and eleven crowns on her upper arch to restore form and function. Custom shading was used to provide her with a natural smile. Her bite was opened slightly to accomplish instant orthodontics as she did not like her original alignment. Patient is preparing for an upper partial denture to regain full function on her right side.

This patient presents with severe wear on her front teeth (top and bottom) with an uneven bite plane.  She was unhappy with the color and esthetics of her front teeth. A conservative approach was taken in the treatment planning for this patient. Patient first lightened her teeth with custom at home whitening. Once her desired brightness was achieved, ceramic crowns were fabricated on only the most affected teeth to improve esthetics but most importantly protect from further wear and tear.  Patient will need to wear a custom nocturnal orthodontic to prevent future damage from clenching and/or grinding.

This patient began with missing premolars on both sides of his upper arch with remaining teeth fractured and decayed. Patient wanted an improvement in function and wanted an esthetic that appeared natural and mimicked his previous smile. The four front teeth are single crowns with custom shading. Fixed partials (bridges) were prepared and seated on either side of his mouth. These fixed partials not only improve function but have enhanced aesthetics with the appearance of an expanded upper arch. His smile has returned showing new, well-balanced crowns with a beautiful natural color.

This patient began with two front teeth having a history of fracture to one of them and many years of old, discolored composite fillings. The fracture displayed obvious crack lines with heavy stain. Both front teeth were crowned with custom shading, and her smile returned showing new, well-balanced crowns with ideal color. Patient was delightfully satisfied.

This patient presented with severe enamel erosion and associated wear and fractures.  She was unhappy with the color and esthetics of her front teeth. To protect her teeth and improve esthetics, ceramic crowns were fabricated from canine to canine. Color was chosen to match her existing posterior crown restorations. Our dental laboratory fabricated beautiful crowns that resulted in a magnificent smile and facial appearance.

Before and after of a patients collapsing bite.

This patient demonstrates a collapsing bite, which wore down his teeth significantly. When closing, he completely covered his lower teeth, exposing them to even more wear. Bite collapse is a medical condition that is characterized by a change in the structure of the patient’s teeth, facial features, and jaw position because of tooth loss or severe wearing down of the teeth. The bite was opened substantially and restored to a healthy level with porcelain crowns resulting in a much younger smile and facial appearance.

This patient began with two front teeth having old crowns and a history of trauma to one of them. This trauma turned the underlying tooth charcoal in color. Both crowns were removed, and well-matched, symmetrical crowns were placed to present a beautiful smile.

This case demonstrates a full arch reconstruction of a 48-year-old man who began with a closed bite and numerous fractured edges showing no teeth when he smiled. At the completion of the case he shows an aesthetic smile with crowns fabricated to proper form and function with an ideal gumline.
